Spiri Robotics, established in 2015 and a resident company at COVE, specializes in autonomous systems and artificial intelligence.
Serving customers in government, academia, and industry, Spiri produces unmanned aerial systems (UAS), marine autonomous surface systems, and portable mission support bases. The company develops both open-source and proprietary software and offers web services for end users.
In early July, Spiri successfully delivered its first batch of Spiri Mu drones to the Canadian government. These drones were sent to Canadian Forces Base Suffield in Alberta for testing by Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) in counter-unmanned aerial systems (counter-UAS) and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) applications. The Spiri Mu drone is a programmable, autonomous UAS that operates a robot operating system (ROS) over Ubuntu Linux 20.4 software on a powerful onboard computer.
Congratulations to Spiri Robotics on this significant milestone! This achievement not only highlights their technological innovation and expertise but also reinforces their position as a leading provider of advanced autonomous systems, making a substantial contribution to Canada’s defense capabilities.
