As of today, drones built by Spiri Robotics of Halifax are not being used to hunt Russian tanks on the battlefields of Ukraine.
But they do have that capability.
“We’re aware of a lot of different drones that are in use over there,” Spiri president Patrick Edwards-Daugherty said Wednesday at the DEFSEC trade show in Halifax. “They are used for delivering munitions, and it’s not just the big ones you think of, like the Predator drones and those sorts of things, drones about the size of ours are used in that way. They do have these sorts of missions, where they’re carrying an infrared sensor in order to look for the presence of a tank.”
