Ocean of Data Challenge: Future Green Ports

The PIER at the Seaport, the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship (COVE), ShiftKey Labs and DeepSense invite university, college students and recent graduates across Atlantic Canada to the free Ocean of Data Challenge: Future Green Ports!

Explore new ways to bring together the City of Halifax and the Port of Halifax in a greener, more efficient and sustainable way and answer the ultimate question: How can we create a greener port? Students from post-secondary institutions across Atlantic Canada are invited to use ocean data to examine how we can drive urban port city sustainability through this Challenge.

The challenge kicks off on Wednesday, May 24th at 6pm ADT with a presentation from a panel of experts. Participants can work solo or in teams of up to five to submit their final idea in a video presentation format by June 5, 2023 by 11:59pm.

Judges will watch the videos and choose a winner by Friday, June 9th. Judging will be based on the potential for impact, originality, and creativity! This challenge is a fantastic way to show off your design, programming, data crunching, communication or other skills. Not to mention more than $2,000 in prizes!
