Stevens Solutions & Design Inc., an Indigenous-owned and operated company, is proud to announce that its software, FireGuardian, has been officially accepted into the Government of Canada’s Pathway to Commercialization (PTC) program. This prestigious designation recognizes the company’s innovative technology as a high-potential solution for federal procurement, providing a streamlined path for government departments to protect critical infrastructure and communities from the growing threat of wildfires.
FireGuardian is a fully validated, web-based wildfire simulation platform that models fire behaviour, terrain interactions, and fuel loads in real time through interactive 3D visualization. Developed as Mi’kmaq-founded intellectual property in Atlantic Canada, the software provides decision-makers with the ability to see, understand, and act before a wildfire impact occurs.
“Acceptance into the Pathway to Commercialization is a milestone for Indigenous-led innovation in the defence and climate sectors,” said Barry Stevens, President of Stevens Solutions & Design Inc. Stevens, a previous participant in the Samqwane’jk project, funded by ESDC, has long focused on bridging the gap between advanced technology and Traditional Indigenous Knowledge Systems. “FireGuardian transforms how we prepare for wildfire events by making scientifically accurate, high-resolution modelling accessible to everyone, from technical teams to community leaders”.
