DON MILLS: Looking ahead to a brighter future in Atlantic Canada

There are a number of important emerging clusters across the region that are contributing to economic growth and a brighter economic future for the region, including the bio-science cluster in Prince Edward Island being led by the PEI Bio-Alliance, and COVE, a high-tech innovation hub for the marine sector located in Nova Scotia.

Probably the most important positive change in the region has been the growth in the population, especially in the three Maritime provinces, over the past number of years. After decades of slow or no growth, the population is growing again.

Indeed, in the last year alone, growth in the three Maritime provinces has exceeded the national population growth rate. This has not happened for decades.
