Precise Design Engineering Solutions expands designing, building capacity with advanced manufacturing technology

NEWS RELEASE June 14, 2021 – Dartmouth, NS

Precise Design Engineering Solutions is pleased to announce a significant investment in its automated production and design capabilities through the introduction of a new Mazak Integrex I400 multitasking machine to its organization.

This investment will further increase Precise Design’s versatility when designing and manufacturing medium to large complex parts, especially in small batches. It will expand Precise Design’s production capacity by allowing parts to be completed in one operation instead of relying on multiple machines, decreasing turn around time and increasing production flexibility.

“We have made significant investments in automation across all of our locations to make it easier on our people and increase capacity,” says Bruce Stover, President of Precise Design. “We strongly believe that automation increases our ability to compete with national and international firms and is a significant part of our business strategy. Our previous innovations along these lines have already proven to be a huge success for both our company and our clients.”

The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) is providing Precise Design with a $377,806 repayable contribution to purchase and install the new advanced manufacturing equipment.

This investment will allow Precise Design to continue its proud tradition of providing customers with a one-stop experience for designing and building the products they need, while shortening delivery times and increasing production capabilities.

“Advanced automation technologies help businesses like Precise Design to grow their business, create products in-house, and help other firms with their engineering needs,” says Darren Fisher, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages (ACOA) and Member of Parliament for Dartmouth – Cole Harbour. “This investment further demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to helping small-and medium-sized businesses become as innovative and competitive as possible.”

The Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship (COVE) has also been essential to pursuing this type of expansion. With the new equipment located at Precise Design’s location at COVE, its fellow COVE tenants and organizations involved with ocean technology will benefit from the company’s increased networking, designing, and building capacity.

“By acquiring this innovative machining centre, Precise Design greatly enhances the service offerings to COVE and the ocean sector,” said Melanie Nadeau, CEO of COVE. “The advancement in automation and manufacturing will provide quick, cost effective solutions providing value to the blue economy. Congratulations to the team at Precise Design and we are pleased to play a part.”

“We are proud to be a part of COVE and look forward to when the facility can open up to full operating and networking capacity. This investment is a strong signal of our commitment to this sector, and the great companies working within it,” says Stover.
