Sensor Technology Ltd. Receives Funding to Develop Innovative Piezo Technology

Collingwood, Ontario, November 28 – Sensor Technology Ltd., a leading custom piezoelectric and hydrophone producer, will receive funding to begin producing textured ceramics. The funding comes in the form of a non-repayable contribution of up to $178,000 from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), a federally funded program that supports the development and commercialization of innovative Canadian technologies, products or services

Sensor Technology Ltd. has always placed a high priority on providing its clients with innovative solutions. This support will allow the company to invest both in Research and Development as well as be able to provide high volume, customized repeatable solutions to its customers.

“We are always trying to look forward with innovative technologies that can improve product process efficiency. This funding is critical as we continue to grow and expand our product offerings,” says Niru Somayajula, President and CEO of Sensor Technology Ltd.

Textured Ceramics are an alternative to single crystals that promise improved piezoelectric performance but for only a modest cost increase. This new class of ceramics incorporates the cost efficiencies of classical ceramic production with the features of single crystals that will result in higher performance levels.

“I am excited about NRC IRAP’s support of this project, as it will allow us to expedite the development and commercialization of the next generation of piezoceramics,” Sailu Nemana, Vice President, Research & Development and Ceramic Manufacturing at Sensor Technology Ltd. said.

ABOUT THE COMPANY: Sensor Technology Ltd. provides custom, innovative Hydrophones and Sensors to a wide range of industries, including Marine and Fisheries, Defense and Oil & Gas.
