The Opportunity
As an individual with strong project management skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and work collaboratively, the Technical Project Manager will work closely with the Director of Innovation to contribute to the achievement of COVE’s strategic goals and the advancement of technical projects in the marine sector.
In this role, the Technical Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the successful execution of technical projects at COVE, including digitalizing the Halifax Harbour and decarbonization initiatives within the marine sector. The Project Manager will be responsible for the management of timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure project objectives are met in line with scope requirements.
What you will be doing:
- Managing and coordinating project activities and tasks to ensure timely and successful project delivery to meet key performance indicators and revenue and profit objectives.
- Building and maintaining relationships with project team members and external partners to ensure effective collaboration, to gather project requirements and to define project scopes.
- Assisting in the development of project plans, timelines, and budgets, and monitoring their implementation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Managing project risks, identifying dependencies, and proposing mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Tracking project performance and preparing regular progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contributing to the development of project proposals and supporting COVE in securing project funding.
- Supporting the Director of Innovation in presenting project updates and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with project management best practices and industry standards.
- Occasional travel may be required.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or other related discipline(s).
- 5 years relevant experience with at least 2 years of project management experience.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Ability to work autonomously or in collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Familiarity with project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Knowledge of risk management and the ability to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Familiarity with financial management and budgeting.
- Experience in stakeholder management and relationship building.
- Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team environment.
- Experience in the marine sector or a related industry with familiarity with technical concepts and terminology related to the marine sector or relevant technology-based industries.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
Additional Assets:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with Agile or other project management frameworks.
- Experience working with funding agencies, such as IRAP and/or ACOA.
