Role Description:
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of a growing Engineering and Designers Department including the development and implementation of short-term and long-term targets in support of overall organizational goals.
The Engineering Manager will oversee an established team of Engineers and Designers while supporting the Sales team in proposal preparation, estimates and drawings. The Engineering Manager will oversee Project Managers and will ensure documentation for all project requirements and process methods are adhered to. This is a technical role where the Engineering Manager will have the opportunity to apply their analytical and mathematical skills while supporting equipment installations, trouble shooting and assessing installed equipment.
The Engineering Manager will communicate effectively with clients in identifying needs and in supplying alternative solutions, while continually seeking opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen client relationships. In conjunction with Human Resources, the Engineering Manager will hire, monitor, measure and mentor team members while collaborating with Leadership to forecast anticipated staffing needs. The Engineering Manager will strive to identify root causes and confirm corrective action is taken to improve product quality & equipment efficiency through the lens of employee and customer safety.
Qualifications:
As the ideal candidate you will have an Engineering Degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering with the ability to register as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will have 10 + years of technical experience as well as 4 + years of managerial experience. Project Management experience is considered an asset.
The successful candidate will be self motivated with a high degree of initiative. They will have the ability to collaborate effectively across various functions of the organization while adhering to company policies and procedures. They will have sound technical skills and be proficient in Microsoft Suite. Bonus points for proficiency in Solid Works and AutoCAD. Flexibility to travel locally is required. Preference will be given to candidates fully vaccinated from COVID-19.
