Ocean Connector: Fish Farms – Inspections Below the Surface

February 27, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Using submersible ROVs, fish farms are able to inspect the overall health and welfare of the fish at any time. One byproduct of this is reduced stress as compared to that caused by commercial divers. Using a handheld controller, operators can navigate ROVs from the surface to survey the integrity of the nets, monitor fish behaviour and health, conduct visual inspections of mooring lines and anchors, track feeding, and check cage depths –without ever touching the bottom – and other possible threats to the structure or to the fish housed within.

Join us in welcoming Andrew Lawrence from Deep Trekker, who will examine the multitude of uses for ROVs in fish farms and the latest developments in this field.
