Atlantic Canadian Kelp Research Connector

The Atlantic Canadian Kelp Research Connector is a unique opportunity to learn about the latest developments in kelp research. The event brings together experts from three regional colleges to explore the potential of kelp environments in Atlantic Canada and will discuss opportunities to grow the market for this marine species.
NSCC’s Applied Geomatics Research Group used topo-bathymetric lidar technology to map and quantify natural and farmed kelp and will be presenting results. The College of the North Atlantic is using AGRG’s mapping data and machine learning to predict the best locations for kelp growth. Holland College’s Canada’s Smartest Kitchen has developed delicious snack products made from kelp, which will be available to sample.
